My name is Lautaro Ortega Cordi. Two years ago, I started my academic journey of becoming a Game Designer. Currently, I am a student of Creative Media and Game Techonology at Hanze University, Netherlands.

My most developed skills are

Game Design UX and UI , C# Programming and Team Management.

 

I also cultivated remarkable People Skills during my 9 years in the Hotel and Restuarant industry.

In this research-heavy team project, I focused on brining an immersive and realistic experience to the people of my Campus university. The goal was to raise awareness of accesiblity gaps that wheelchair users face both in a daily basis and in emergency situations. I had Programmer and Designer roles, which allowed me to create two full levels. I used diegetic UI to create a Reactor Panel that the player could control and a seamless game menu as the form of a Smart Phone. On top of that, I also created dark room level where I used lighting as a mechanic, as the player had to light their way using their Smarth Phone flashlight.

  • Created smart phone and tutorial diegetic UI.

  • Created reactor level with destruction physics and reactor panel. 

  • Created dark room level using lighting and phyisics interaction as mechanics. 

  • Applied seven different research methods.

A King's Gambit

In this solo project that I developed as part of my Game Design and Programming classes, I got to experiment with Unity phyisics and design programing patterns. A King's Gambit combines fun and satisfying destruction chaos with a deep and thrilling war story, all told by a simple chess themed experience that allows the design and narrative of this game to shine. The lack of art assets is because I focused on Game Design and Programming, this is an ongoing project.

  • Created four levels with different difficulties.​

  • Used lighting to bring the feeling of scene together.

  • Destruction phyisics used as a main mechanic.

  • Created story and narrative.​

  • Created one boss fight.

  • Created simple UI for health, boss health, coin collection.

  • Applied Enemy Factory for enemy spawns and State Machine for player states.

In this VR game the player is a caretaker of a new plant species. With the use of my State Machine, I simulated the behaviour of a real plant that dries and grows. The futuristic aesthetic of the game was brought together by my use of lightning and futuristic User Interface design. 

  • Created 3D layout for several test versions.

  • Scripted a state machine for plant behaviour.

  • Main programmer of the project.

  • Created dynamic resource system.

  • Co-designed and implemented user interface.

The Archivist

During this project, I took a leadership role and managed to deliver a historical game about the real History Center in Leeuwarden in where the player takes the role of an Archivist, maintaining and investigating old artifacts and documents.

  • Designed and programmed two whole levels.

  • Wrote Design Document.

  • Designed and implemented User Interface.

  • Researched with Target Audience.

  • Lead a team of 7 people.

  • Implemented sounds and VFX.

  • Eternal Dark Ages

As a table top RPG enthusiast, I created my own game based on Dungeons and Dragons. I made my own dice system, skill tree, character sheet and lore.​ I also drew several of the characters and maps.

  • VR Nordic Combat Game

This ongoing VR Project will bring a thrilling experience with the Viking brutal theme, combining horde fighting with the immersion that VR offers. Right now, this game is its early stages but so far I have done:

  • Enemy Factory with normal enemies and flying enemies.

  • Projectile blocking and destruction.

  • Enemy destruction when defeated (using phyisics)

  • Weapon velocity tracking system

  • Diegetic UI (break elements as input).

  • Implemented weapons such as Spear, Shield, Small Axe, Big Axe and Sword (not 3D modelling).
